The History of Glotech… where it all began

Do you know why you can get great appliances and a great kitchen from Glotech

It’s all because of our Dad, Graham Reeves.

Sadly, he’s not around now. But the legacy he left behind him is really, really important to my brother Mark and me.

Dad worked for the Merchant Navy for a long time. But that wasn’t where his passion lay.

See, he was very good with his hands. Any spare time he had, you’d always find him tinkering and fixing stuff for people.

Washing machines, mostly.

And one day back in 1976, he left the Merchant Navy. Upped ship and started his own business, fixing washing machines and selling vacuum cleaners.

Just four years later he opened his first store, Finchley Vac Centre.

It was such a success that Hotpoint chose his place to be one of their official centres.

Business was thriving.

So much so that in the nineties, Dad opened two more showrooms and warehouses.

Mark and I had started working for him by then and – let me tell you! – it was an exciting time.

Sadly in 2000, we lost Dad to cancer.

But not before we promised to push the business forward to new places and to continue the amazing legacy he started.

So, five years later, we brought together the different parts of the business under one brand and refocused on three main areas – Appliances – Kitchens – Repairs

And Glotech was born.

We learned a lot from our Dad. And we’re pleased to say that his values are still at the very core of everything we do at Glotech

We’re still the family business that started back in 1976.

We still provide real value for money, which was why customers kept coming back years ago.

And we’re still obsessed with providing the highest level of customer care, just like Graham was.
